What you have to learn is to neutralize calamity. A person's own enemy is their thinking and fantasies. If that energy is saved, and a person comes to their intuitive intelligence, there is no way that person shall not be prosperous, successful, and great.
That was the objective that Guru Gobind Singh achieved in his lifetime. He knew the time would come when humanity would suffer with a very big heavy avalanche of emptiness inside, and people would be very ritualistic outside. He knew they would not find peace, tranquility, and truth in themselves, and this shallowness would become such a dangerous disease and epidemic that mankind will suffer. Because of that suffering, he gave you a protective self. He made your horizons so vast and unlimited that you can't find the limit even today.
The next 16 years will be a test and trial for you. The next 16 years you will have to carry the banner and be ten times stronger to carry the load of what is the destiny and the will of God. That way you shall grow. Those who have maya, the commotional neurosis, will wither. It is guaranteed that purity does not tolerate personal self commotions. They are the enemies because they don't let us serve others.
We have to be flawless to serve others, to elevate others in their excellence.
Everybody by his own beauty, bounty, and bliss will be a leader, and everybody will have the chance to serve the totality of humanity. You are people of peace; you are people of strength. It takes all the meditative strength not to slander. It takes a hundred thousand parts of God within you all the time so that you can forgive. If you have to give something to this world, you have to give forgiveness. The quality of the forgiveness should be such that people will not love you as people; people should love you as servants of the people. Your grace and your radiance and your truth should penetrate every heart.
This year, 1998, is a very simple year; don't react. Stay clean from reaction and things will come to you. If you react you will lose a human quality in action and reaction, and you will be struggling. Please understand, as God has protected us this last year which is leaving us in a few hours, God shall welcome us in the new year with blessing and grace.
May you all live to be better, more beautiful and more bountiful than me, and may you drop your baggage of ugliness which you brought from previous karmas. May you understand that man is as small as man acts small, and man is as huge, vast and big as he acts. Those who are selfish will never find the Self. Those who are selfless, they will find God.
