Guadalajara
Guadalajara

Guadalajara functions as the center for a region that includes six states, with a focus of training teachers, providing support and creating centers. They have just completed the first teacher’s training course with 23 new yoga teachers. The majority of those teachers are in the process of developing new centers within their region. Today, within the city of Guadalajara, population of four million, there are eight Kundalini Yoga centers. It has been incredible for them to watch the growth and expansion of the Teachings of Yogi Bhajan. All the teachers meet once a month to exchange experiences; to promote and create involvement of the major events of the year - Summer Solstice, KWTC, White Tantric. A calendar is circulated regularly among all of the teachers and students which encourages attendance at all of the 3HO events in Mexico and the United States. We have been blessed to see more and more people from Mexico at Summer Solstice. The October White Tantric course is very will attended by these devotional people.

The main center was formed by Gian Singh and Gian Kaur in 1985 which provides all of the Teacher’s Training, initial funding for the local Yoga Foundation and the meeting place for Gurdwara.

Guadalajara also hosts all of the activities surrounding the Book Fair and the Siri Singh Sahib’s visit in November. They host booths for the Yoga Center and their four health food stores. The Siri Singh Sahib lectures each day of the Book Fair and teaches a meditation course which draws a huge crowd! In 1992 they began hosting an annual Ecumenical Breakfast during the Book Fair at the request of the Siri Singh Sahib. A Peace Prayer Day developed as an outcome of the Ecumenical Breakfast. Organized in connection with the House of Tibet and eleven other religions, about 1,000 people participated in the Peace Prayer Day activities.
