Saying Goodbye ~ The Last Seva
Kiratpur, India ~ January 11, 2005
The devoted have come from all over the world. Meeting at the Siri Singh Sahib's house-Dashmesh Sadan-this beautiful, serene place which he built for us all. We have come, as if giving legs to Siri Singh Sahib Ji's dream...to walk this land, to place our foreheads at the sacred places, to fill our hearts and our auras with the love of this place. It was always his dream to spend his last years in this land that he loved so much. He would love the sight and sounds of this evening as we gather!

We go to Kiratpur with his ashes. And the faithful all around the world are with us all in faith and love as we walk, as we pray, as we say goodbye with hearts and faces held high!

We caravan to Kiratpur, 20 km from Anandpur, to perform the last seva for our beloved Teacher. The sacredness of the event was honored with the completion of one of the many Akhand Paaths in his honor. The voices of our young people from Miri Piri Academy rang out carrying the Guru's Bani. The sangat moved towards the river nearby, where Guru Hargobind's ashes had merged, and where SSSji requested his ashes be offered. It is such a humble act of seva to carry the ashes of a loved one and help them to complete this earthly journey.

As Ranbir Singh, Yogi Bhajan's son carried the ashes by his heart, all of our hearts softened and opened. We reached the bridge where the sangat surrounded Bibiji, Ranbir Singh, Kulbir Singh, Kamaljit Kaur and the rest of the family. The rest of the sangat gathered on the riverbanks, and Guru Singh and the MPA students led us all in chanting Guru Guru Wahe Guru Guru Ram Das Guru, as Yogi Bhajan's ashes were poured into the river. The feeling was bittersweet. A goodbye. ..hearts overflowing with gratitude. . . so soft... so much love, so much love. Then we raised our voices announcing Siri Singh Sahib Ji's legacy, as Song of the Khalsa rose into the sky! Several generations of his students, his hope, claiming the future! We bid our final farewell with May the Longtime Sun, from our hearts. So much love, so much love. Job well done, Sir.
