Give the Identity Back to God
Give the Identity Back to God
Siri Singh Sahib (Yogi Bhajan) Speaks, Excerpts, 9/10/95

We gather together to understand tomorrow. Tomorrow shall be free of sorrow when individuals stop searching for God, but recognize and believe that we are part of God. When this search stops, actions will change. Instead of love of God, fear of God has been spread, taught and practiced.

It is the atma, the soul, which takes birth, not the human, and atma is God itself. Just as putting a piece of gold into mud will not make it become mud, atma can never become impure. Some teachings say that humans have gone away from God, and so therefore we find human suffering; When Guru Nanak came to this Earth he said,

Akal Moorat, Ajooni, Saibhung, Gurprasad

"Akaal moorat," you are the personified God; "Ajooni saibhung" you are always infinite; and you are always by thy own grace and that is the blessing of the Guru. Now in the modern day people are shy about being spiritual, they are afraid to trust God. It is impossible for the more learned person to recognize and see the will of God, because the naam, the identity is not dedicated to God. That's why there is fear, insecurity, and pain, and life is full of tragedy. God gave the identity and we couldn't give back the identity to God. To solve this little problem there are religions, priests, temples, libraries, speakers, and everything.

God gave you identity, give the identity back to God. He rotates the Earth, he takes care of your routine. Your mother took care of you when you were a child and Mother Nature will take care of you now. Father gave you the strength and protection; Heavenly Father will protect you better than your own father. If you fold your hands in prayer the unseen Hands of God shall open to give you love and hug.

Humans, born out of the will and joy of God, have to build a relationship with the atma and the paramatma, listen to the word of the Guru, and make a place in their memories and hearts for the Shabd Guru. Humans worship the power of the Earth and forget the grace of the heavens; but when this earthly body dies the atma knows where to go.

Humanity is here to celebrate the greatest spiritual freedom: the sovereignty of the human to be equal and free in the eyes of God, to be kind and compassionate in eyes of each other, to know our relationship is that of soul to soul, and shall not be influenced by riches or maya nor corrupted by the needs of the Earth, so that when we die, we can say, “Dust to heavens,” not, “Dust to dust.” May we all live in that peace and tranquility and find and practice our reality, Shabd Guru, in our heart.
