Khalsa Council - Strategic Focus For Next Eight Years

Setting Strategic Focus for the Next Eight Years
"The Khalsa Council And YOU!!!"

The following is a process which the Khalsa Council went through to set strategic foci. It was illuminating and empowering. The Khalsa Council did identify goals, but in the end came to the realization that it wanted to hear from the Sangat before it finalized those goals which will take us to October 2005! You’ll be hearing from Khalsa Council members in your local sangats.

The Secretary General stated that the Leadership Agenda will take us through October, 1997. In order for her office to serve the Khalsa Council in the best possible ways, it needs to decide as a leadership body where it wants to go; it means using the sixth chakra as a visionary. To take us into this process, the Khalsa Council did a powerful guided meditation. In this we recalled moments when we were leaders, the sound of the voice, the projection, the delivery, the experience of our words deeply penetrating the heart of another person. Then, we projected into the future and explored our leadership. Throughout there was mental focus, use of the breath, and mudra. The pivot became the Siri Singh Sahib’s directive to ask ourselves : "Am I ready now?"

The Council then met in small groups to share their experiences of the meditation. It was impacting, insightful, and effectively focused us on our leadership. Recurrent themes among the groups were to improve communication and connection with local sangats and the world, and the experience of members making connections with the larger body of the leadership of Khalsa Council.

Reconvening as the full body and using Story Boarding techniques, the Council identified strategic foci for 1997 to 2005, but as you now know, the Khalsa Council wants to hear from you, the constituency, before deciding.
