Kundalini Yoga Teachers: IKYTA News
Kundalini Yoga Teachers: IKYTA News
Nam Kaur Khalsa, Executive Director

1998 promises to be a year of great expansion for Kundalini Yoga and IKYTA. It started with the Southwest Yoga Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico in January, attended by over 800 people. Yogi Bhajan taught for three days focusing on the Negative, Positive, and Neutral Minds. It was very educational to see how he teaches to a totally new audience. He is so masterful (of course) at using his wit and wisdom to engage everyone! We had a beautiful display of our books, and the IKYTA Teachers Directory was available, showing our extensive representation around the world.

Your 1998 Teachers Directory will be coming to you in the 3HO Summer Events brochure this year. We now have a record number of listings - 380 - including our five National Associations in France, Spain, Germany, Italy, and Mexico, that represent over 700 teachers internationally!

We continue our cross-marketing promotion in an effort to increase referrals to your classes. IKYTA’s contact information will be printed in several new books, including Yogi Bhajan’s newest, The Mind, and Dr. Dharma Singh’s new book, The Pain Cure.

KRI has expanded the KRI International Teachers Training program this year and we now have 18 teams offering the standardized Level 1 Certification program worldwide. If you are interested in becoming a Certified Kundalini Yoga Teacher, please contact us for the most current schedule.

We are now offering subscriptions to KUNDALINI RISING!, the teachers newsletter, for $35 a year, to non-members. Anyone who would like to receive new yoga sets and meditations, and at the same time support the work IKYTA is doing to make Kundalini Yoga a household name, may now subscribe. (Subscriptions are free to IKYTA members.)

3HO in Espanola recently hosted a journalist named Linda Solomon. Her article on Yogi Bhajan and Kundalini Yoga is slated to appear in Yoga Journal’s Fall 1998 issue. This mainstream magazine exposure is a first for Kundalini Yoga and 3HO.
