You Have A Face And A Grace Which Is Not Yours

Khalsa Council, April 1996

The nutshell of life is the balance sheet. Those who are hurt by past circumstances, by present circumstances, or are afraid of the tomorrow’s circumstances will never achieve what they are born to achieve individually as a unison nature of the personal self. There is no progress if there are no challenges; there is no progress if there are no calamities; there is no progress if there are no mishaps. A nation does not make its way just with a simple fear of pain, defeat, or dishonor. A nation progresses through its spiritual strength against the tide of time. A nation which cannot conquer time, a man which cannot overcome time, shall not exist in peace within its own lifetime. Simple law.

Last twenty-five years we have been working together, one way or the other. Many came, many survived, and some couldn’t. The process of life is like that. Now we are facing a leadership for tomorrow. It is not true that we have challenges at home, challenges from our children. You must understand that a child who is not given values shall not grow. A student which shall not practice values shall not grow. An office bearer, who shall not master the values to share, shall not grow. These are simple rules. Anything which is not nurtured with values has no value. It is not how spiritual one is, it is how spiritually one faces calamity.

By wearing robes and by knowing knowledge, by knowing God, and by creating miracles, it’s totally nonsense. It has no value. Having all the respect, everybody bowing and appreciating, and having all the faculties, facility, wonderful life, and everything at your command -- if all that is spirituality, that is nothing. Spirituality is when all is gone, and when there is nothing to hope for, you become the hope and you are not gone. That is spirituality. That is what man is going to be.

We have to see and do our best within our lifetime what we can do, and how we can prevail. This is how it is approaching. Within the cusp of 1991 and 21 years, the axle of the earth has changed. Now, scientists have agreed. They come later and say, "It is a little slower." They are blaming the dams we built all over the world, that they distributed water in such a weight that we have slowed down the movement of the earth. Fact is the axle has an angular difference. Also, Saturn has left the Piscean sign once and for all; it’s actually confusing the heavens on us. What is happening is purity and piety are going to challenge us. They’re going to confront us face to face. We will face spiritual strength in many ways. It can be domestic, financial, relationships, sociological, biological, and lot of things.

There are certain things to be done as a nation. We have to prepare ourselves for the onslaught, which after 21 years, we are going to face. There are certain weaknesses we have. Most rational person among us cannot tell an irrational person that he doesn’t have time. Most disgraceful situation cannot be denied by the most graceful person, because he cannot face it. We are born to be face to face with death and conquer death.

Leadership tomorrow depends upon our oncoming second, third, and fourth generations, and leadership depends on us, too. If we stop reevaluating ourselves, we have stopped our leadership process. Leadership is to revalue everyday, every aspect of one’s self, and every balance sheet must have plus spirituality in it, so that you can face the calamity with it, and so that you can go with a smile for your own tomorrow.

The aspects that we are facing right now is that we are a Khalsa Council, that we have been here for a very long time, and what we are doing. We are becoming a nucleus with unconditional strength, with absolutely indifferent mind, from insanity to the most sensibility among us, we have stabilized ourselves.

This stability is the most rewarding stability a human can have. Whenever a person, on the altar of its own higher self, accepts to surrender to that higher self, at the same time when time and space will not allow, this is the respectful attitude where a person wins spiritually. It clarifies the mentality, and clarified mentality will bring prosperity. In spite of the wealth, prosperity shall never touch those shores which do not have this beauty.

You may not have anything. It doesn’t matter. You have two very obvious things. You have a face and a grace which is not yours. Therefore, when in this face and in this grace, you remember -- I repeat, in this face and in this grace, you remember Who it belongs to and Who gave it to you -- if you in the Name of that Guru bless a person, you shall always win. That is a very extra plus you have.
