Seva Is Our Dharma
Seva Is Our Dharma...
Doing Seva, We Will Receive Abundance A Thousand Fold
Siri Singh Sahib Yogi Bhajan
August 25, 1996

Dharma is when we take action to uplift and serve others. Seva is our dharma. Doing seva, we will receive abundance a thousand fold. If we do not do seva, we only serve our purpose, our insecurity, our own ego, and ourself.

We are busy. I am not saying we are not busy. We are over busy. Actually, You are super busy in messing up the mess. You are very busy because of what you want. You are all doing things so you can be known. You are not doing anything so God can be known. You are not doing anything so the glory of God can be preserved and served. You have no purity, no piety, and no power. You are a person, an individual by weight, with the height of five to seven feet and you have an ego of a monster. You want to create an image of you. You think you are supposed to be served because of your image. Make yourself pure. Make yourself polite. Make yourself tolerant. Make yourself humble. Make yourself great. Make your touch, vibration, and sight so that you impress all that there is. Make yourself beautiful, bountiful, and graceful. Time has come for you to wake up.

Everyone feels that the world stops with them that you are the end of the universe. Actually, what goes out from you, comes back to you. If you serve, you shall win the heart of others.

If you are humble, you shall not only win their hearts, you will win their total being. If you serve, people will want to do something for you. Their thousands of prayers will elevate you. God will come through for you.

Seva is a very wonderful cause. Service is a real thing. It is not what serves you. Service is you, overflowing and enriching another person. That is seva. When you act as a demonstrative id of ego, you will totally lose all that there is and there shall be. This is a very concrete law. That’s why the Guru’s says to the Sikh, "karta purkh, nirbho, nirvair," ‘God does everything.’ You need to understand God. God has no fear or vengeance. ‘Akaal moorat’, you happen to be a personified God. Act like a personified God. Act like God serves.

If Mukhia Singh Sahib is not a Mukhia Singh Sahib and he is not a mouth piece of divinity and identity; and his attitude is I am Mukiha Singh Sahib, therefore, everybody should listen to me, I’m not going to listen to anybody, people will not even look at his face. If a Singh Sahib is not in the position to be a Singh Sahib, he cannot believe enough to encourage another person to come through, he cannot protect and provide the glory, you can have as many titles as you want, but you are not going to make it. A person is known by their existence. The One Creator understand the meaning of it. You can’t push it with a status.

Happiness is your right. It is your privilege. You are the child of God, the God who created this earth and who rotates this earth and who rules this earth. You have to watch. He gave you senses. He gave you a sensory system. He gave you a glandular system. He gave you intuition with which you can watch His world. You came here as a visitor. You lost your path. You lost your journey. You entangled with each other. You are not going to make it. It doesn't make sense for you as a person to be in Sikh Dharma, if you don’t have royalty, reality, worth, vastness, altitude, and attitude. Don’t negate yourself. Don’t negate anybody. As a Sikh you have one thing to learn: You have a challenge to take everybody at face value and feel tomorrow shall be great. That’s the way to be grateful.

You are ten percent person, 80% unknown. Yet, you are scared of the Unknown. You have no receptivity for the Unknown. You are the worshiper of the Mahan Akaal, Lord of the Unknown. Yet you ask what will happen to me?

I was asked a question this morning - what a beautiful question: "What will happen to our future?" I said, "It is already written." "Where it is written?" I said, "It is written somewhere." "Where did you read it?" I said, "I read it all the time." "What you say it is." I said, "Nine hundred sixty million we shall be." "How?" I said, "Just watch, twenty seven years ago you never even knew what a turban was."

This is the time with your purity that you can do everything. There are standing teachings of the Guru. There are standing blessings of the Guru. There is a standing path the Guru has laid. You cannot fail, if you just understand the very first words of Nanak: "Ek ong kaar." I, you, me, and us, are all that there is. Therefore, give yourself a chance. Sikh Dharma is so simple, don’t make it complicated.

You want to know? Know it from your intuition. Let your intuition guide you for your every tomorrow. You have a consciousness. What is your consciousness? If wrongs and rights are balanced, all rights are right, all wrongs are wrong. There should be a good balance of right. Still when you are very right and you humbly serve, than you are divine. Than you have an identity. With that identity, you are fulfilled with the entire universe.

Miracle of Chanting to Guru Ram Das Ji
(same lecture)

"Dhan dhan raam daas gur
Jin siri-aa tinai savaari-aa
Pooree ho-ee karaamaat
Aap sirajanahaarai dhaari-aa"

The God of Miracles is on our side, what are we worried about?

"Sikhee atai sangatee
Paarbrahm kar naamasakaari-aa"

With the disciples, the congregation, and the designated name from God, He was honored. The honor of the designated name is a very difficult honor. Honor you can get, honor of the designated name is that which time and space and people can not wipe out.

"Atal athaaho atol too
Tayraa ant na paaraavaari-aa"

Was, is, and ever beyond, and there is no measurement of it. Unlimited. There is no measurement. He is beyond any measurement. His blessings are beyond any measurement. You creeps belong to him, and you close your hearts, and you can’t call on Him. What is wrong with you? You don’t need a telephone. You don’t need a number. You don’t need a code. Just call on him. He is beyond measurement.
Your Guru, Siri Guru Granth says, "Naanak too, lehnaa too heh, guru amar too veechaari-aa," and here He’s saying He’s unlimited. Call on Him, He’s the Word. Is that so difficult, because you have a narrow heart, you have no confidence, no faith, no trust in anything? Where are you learning? Guru says, "Call, call, call, call." If He doesn’t answer, He’s the freak. He’s a "Partak Guru, samrath Guru." What is wrong with calling on him?

"Jinee too(n) sayvi-aa bhaa-o kar
Say tudh paar utaari-aa"

Those who have served him with "bhaa-o," with just humble grace,"Say tudh paar utaari-aa," you have taken them across. You will take them across. No, you have "paar utaari-aa," you shall take them across. You have already taken them across. They’re sitting across, but they are living here.

Try to understand what Guru is saying, Siri Guru Granth is telling something: "Say tudh paar utaari-aa," you are taking Him across already. Check point has already been notified that they are coming with grace, with beauty, with bounty. What a satisfaction. There is no fear then, there‘s no tomorrow then, there’s no hassle then.

"Lab lobh kaam krodh moho
Maar kadhay tudh saparvaari-aa"

Watch out. All evils are there because where all goodness of the heart is, all evil is also. Sometimes, they go side by side. "Saparvaari-aa," He has taken all evil out of you and out of your all environments. Whatever you are to deal with, He has taken you out of that. What are you upset about? Is it bothering you?

What you can do? 80% Unknown works if you call on Guru Ram Das. Is that a bad idea? You call on your friend. Your telephone bills go so high you can’t believe it. Why don’t you call on Guru Ram Das, a toll free number.

Let us understand the Age of Aquarius is on us. It is the age of knowledge. It is not the age of libraries. It is the age of giving people tranquility, peace, dignity, divinity, grace, and sharing. We may find it difficult. Let’s call on Guru Ram Das.

"Dhan so tayraa thaan hai
Sach tayraa paiskaari-aa"

Great is the place where you inhabit and great is the place where you prevail.

All you have to do is sit and become an instrument, and say "Guru Ram Das, I don’t know, I’m stuck. Take care of it." That’s what I do.

Word of the God is. Guru shall come through. Call on Him. This is the beauty of the Guru. Guru shall be yours, always. "Ang Sang Wahe Guru" is the open and simple statement.

You have to just hear it. You don’t even have to believe it, just say "Guru Ram Das please guide me."
