"Children have all the knowledge they need. Give them the experience, which is what they really need."

Khalsa Youth Camp at Ram Das Puri
For the past 19 years, Khalsa Youth Camp has been an experience that nurtures our children’s spiritual needs in a setting of natural beauty, Ram Das Puri, our land in the high desert of New Mexico. Nature is the finest environment we can give young people. Giving our children the opportunity to spend four weeks, June 29th - July 25th, in an environment that cultivates their spiritual identities is truly a priceless gift. Camp offers this experience through a daily practice of morning sadhana, children’s Gurdwara, seva, and a full day of fun, challenging activities. Our staff is dedicated, trained and focused on maintaining a positive mental attitude for their work as guides and teachers for these young soldier-saints.

The Opportunity for Giving
Every summer Siri Singh Sahib Yogi Bhajan thanks parents for sending their children to camp. He recently said that God gave us children so that we can "expand our consciousness, extend ourselves, and beat the time." Finding the money and making accommodations for a summer at camp often takes a lot of extending, but recently a parent said that, when it comes to affording camp, "I truly don’t know how I can afford not to send my child. He comes home more centered and singing songs of the Gurus."

Children bring to their parents great opportunities for giving. There is a saying: "You can make a living by what you get, but you make a life by what you give." Khalsa Youth Camp is a place in which a child can create a relationship with themselves, their brothers , sisters, guides, and spiritual teacher. For many children, it is the only time during the year when they are reciting their banis, singing kirtan, practicing morning sadhana and playing with others who also share their lifestyle. We truly can make a life by giving our children opportunities that support their fullest potential.
