Dasvandh - Giving to the Unknown
Dasvandh - Giving to the Unknown
Siri Singh Sahib Yogi Bhajan

Siri Singh Sahib ji: As a Sikh or a Khalsa, what is our one pledge, or our one obligation, which we have to do voluntarily in spite of everything?

Student: To die before we fall?

Siri Singh Sahib ji: No, no, no. That’s our life. Come on.

Student: To live the rehit? To serve, obey?

Siri Singh Sahib ji: To serve, obey---- that’s our spiritual strength.

Student: To be healthy, happy, and holy?

Siri Singh Sahib ji: That’s our 3HO motto.

Student: To live pure?

Siri Singh Sahib ji: To live pure is the base of the Khalsa.

Student: To make a commitment to God?

Siri Singh Sahib ji: Make a commitment to God or not; it doesn’t bother God either way. But if we don’t, we are in a mess. Can anybody here tell me what is our pledge and our obligation, which is done by us alone and has nothing to do with anything else? Reading the banis? Guru ordered it. Living rehit? Guru commanded it.

Student: To find God within?

Siri Singh Sahib ji: To find God within; He has never gone anywhere. It is our ignorance which makes us think so. Come on.

Student: To recite "Aad sach, jugaad sach..."?

Siri Singh Sahib ji: To recite "Aad sach jugaad sach"... that’s what Guru Nanak said, I know.

Student: To keep up?

Siri Singh Sahib ji: "Keep up," I said that.

Student: Sadhana?

Siri Singh Sahib ji: That’s a goal of every human being. We just simply overemphasize it.

Student: To die sacred?

Siri Singh Sahib ji: To die sacred is a privilege.

Student: Ang Sang Wahe Guru?

Siri Singh Sahib ji: That we always know.

Student: Sovereign Khalsa spiritual nation?

Siri Singh Sahib ji: Our pledge and obligation, dummies, is only one - to give Dasvandh to the Guru. Dasvandh. Not to a person, not to a country, not to a place, not to work, not to a mission. In the entire Sikh Dharma there is only this one individual obligation or pledge. Give it.
