What Is Tithing
What is Tithing
A Message from Siri Singh Sahib Yogi Bhajan
May 1997

Through the ancient teachings of many spiritual practices we have learned about giving 1/10 of our day to the infinite and 1/10 of our income. This is called a tithing. In Sikh Dharma we give back a tenth of our day by doing a 2 1/2 hour morning sadhana of yoga and meditation. We tithe 1/10 of our income by giving Dasvandh.

Your Dasvandh contributions allow us to expand and preserve the yogic and healing technologies as taught by Yogi Bhajan. Dasvandh is the expression of our gratitude for the gifts received through this technology. By giving from the heart, we reconnect to that source, elevating our soul and fulfilling our destiny.

Yogi Bhajan spoke about Dasvandh recently, and below is his message about tithing your tenth:

"The psyche of giving is very simple, but difficult to understand. When you give Dasvandh you give to your own future. The psyche of genetic process creates a harmony in the molecular co-existence. When you give you give to Guru and God, you give with faith and commitment. This makes Mother Earth and Heavenly Father commit to return back in many folds. It is very God-like to give 1/10 of your income and keep 9/10 for your own insecurities. This is the code Guru has given us to open all doors of prosperity, good fortune, bounty and luck.

Dayndaa day lainday thak paa-eh, jugaa jugantar khaahee khaa-eh.

God the Giver constantly gives His gifts and recipients become tired of receiving. Throughout the ages all have been provided for by His Grace."
