IKYTA Updates |
June 17, 2003 Teachers Conference
This year our 11th Annual IKYTA Teacher’s Conference has moved to the Thursday prior to Solstice. Traditionally it has always been on Friday, the arrival day of Summer Solstice. We received many requests from teachers who also attend Solstice to move the date from Friday to Thursday, and as a result surveyed our membership. Due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback, we have done just that, so this year’s Conference is on Thursday, June 17th. The conference topic is “Connecting to the Teacher Within and Without.” Include the Teachers Conference in your plans for next summer!
2004 IKYTA Membership
With our 2004 IKYTA Membership Campaign coming to a close, we would like to thank all of you who have joined IKYTA, and let others know that it is not too late to join. We will be continuing with our “Moments with the Master,” in 2004. Take advantage of this opportunity to hear the words of Yogi Bhajan, in a current message specifically for our members, (as Yogi Bhajan’s health and schedule permits.)
Remember that all Professional members will need to accrue 10 CEUs when renewing for 2005 IKYTA Membership. Go to our website for more information on our new Kundalini Yoga CEU program.
All students of Kundalini Yoga can become Associate members of IKYTA and receive many of our membership benefits.
Kundalini Yoga Updates
Sat Kriya - “You Create, You Circulate” - We have found that there is a lot of confusion regarding the amount of time that one should rest after practicing Sat Kriya. In October we checked with Yogi Bhajan, and he said to follow the instructions as given when Sat Kriya is part of a Kundalini Yoga kriya. If the time of relaxation is not mentioned, or if you are doing just Sat Kriya, the rule of thumb for the length of relaxation following Sat Kriya, direct from the Master, is: “It needs the same time to circulate the energy. You create, you circulate.” This applies even if you are doing it for 31 or 62 minutes, we asked specifically!
How long can a Kundalini Yoga Class be? Under the guidance of a qualified (KRI Cerified) Kundalini Yoga teacher, a class or workshop can be up to 8 hours. Make sure to allow time for appropriate relaxation as given by Yogi Bhajan for each kriya.
