Trinidad: An Individual Part of the Big Entity
There was one year that I came to Solstice and I wanted to know what my destiny was. I think you may have had that experience. I said, “I’m not leaving here until Yogiji tells me what my destiny is. And I’m leaving on Tuesday so I’ve got to know before Tuesday.” The response came with lightning speed: “Your destiny is to teach. If you teach, everything shall be yours. Everything that you want shall be granted.” Even though I knew that this was what I wanted deep down inside, hearing it from the Master made so much difference. But like everything else, just because you get the answer, you don’t always act on it right away. Three years later I started teaching, and I now understand what he said. My destiny to teach really gave me everything I wanted in life. I feel so fulfilled when I teach. This wisdom from the master has been a major life experience and a fulfillment of my destiny.

When I teach yoga classes in Trinidad and people are interested in coming to Solstice, I usually give them some advice. The first thing is this: “You are going to go through changes such as Karmic adjustments, and the like. You are going to dehydrate and feel almost like you are at the worst point in your life. On the fourth and fifth days you are going to feel you made the biggest mistake of your life.” A lot of students really feel that way. The first day of White Tantric Yoga they tell me “If I can get through this day, I’m going to stop.” But when they get through that day, they say, “If I made it today, maybe I can try tomorrow.” And then the second day they say, “Well, two out of three is good, but I’m going to stop now.” However, something keeps them going. If these students do two days, they feel they can do three and they come to the third day of Tantric. At the end of the third day they are relieved. They may be sore, but they have become something that they weren’t before.

On the last two or three days of Solstice they begin to feel sad, because they don’t really want to leave the camp. This is the unity, the joy and the unified energy that they feel as one. It is like a group of people with one aura separating now, to go on their missions back home and it is really sad because they have become a complete circle of all those who are in the energy. But they can carry this separation because they are a part of the total energy. We are all part of God. An individual part of the Big Entity.

The first year I came to Summer Solstice was in 1989. And it was like a dream come true when Shakti Parwha Kaur Khalsa and Livtar Singh Khalsa met me at the gate. They were the only two people I knew in the Dharma at that time. My first Solstice was not easy but people like Siri Simran Kaur did an excellent job in making me feel welcome.

I carried back home everything from the teachings that I could remember. It took me a while to learn the process of how to teach and how to develop a community. From 1989 to 2001 we have come far! The island of Trinidad is small but we already have five Kundalini Yoga Teachers, a 3HO Ashram, which is recognized by the government, as well as registered companies. There are many countries like ours giving the Teachings a priority that it’s amazing. At home we have become an individual part of the big entity and the struggle has been well worth the effort. We are still spreading the teachings and developing our community.
