Khalsa Council Meetings - Fall 2003
International Khalsa Council held its 58th session, October 2nd – 4th, creating a spirited beginning for its new two-year agenda, “Educational Institutions & Youth,” led by the new Chairperson, SS Gurukirn Kaur Khalsa (Phoenix)

Conscious Community

as Campus

The Council experienced a visioning process of “Conscious Community as Campus,” generating ideas about how to make these “campuses” a worldwide reality. Later in the meetings, the Council divided into regional groups to participate in a process of “Siblings of Destiny,” to take stock of the resources of Sikh Dharma communities worldwide. The groups assessed their communities’ strengths, needs, concerns, and solutions, as well as the role Khalsa Council could play in their development. Members learned about the value-based curriculum based on the Siri Singh Sahib’s philosophy of education applied to each age and grade that is being established at Miri Piri Academy. The Council was given “Snapshots” of other Sikh Dharma/3HO educational institutions including Aquarian Sage Transcriptions (Bangalore, India), SikhNet, Aquarian Institute, university certified Kundalini Yoga programs in Guadalajara & Mexico City, 3HO and Sikh Dharma Events, Punjabi University Center, and schools in Espanola, Phoenix, & Tucson. “The Potential of Prosperity” presentation explored the fundraising possibilities of the eScrip and School Cash programs, introduced by the Chairperson, which allow participants to create funds for Sikh Dharma education programs while doing their normal shopping through participating merchants, who donate a percentage of purchases to our non-profit organization. To participate in the eScrip and School Cash programs and for info about the value-based curriculum, please contact Ardas Kaur, [email protected]. The Khalsa Council visited the Ranch and the site where the Siri Singh Sahib requested that a beautiful Meditation Garden be created. Members chanted, meditated, and prayed as they visioned the Meditation Garden, where the Siri Singh Sahib will teach students from all over the world. The Council started a fund to support the manifestation of the Garden. To contribute to this fund, please contact Panch Nishan Kaur at

Executive Mind & Infinite Heart

The Council was blessed with a presentation, “Purity of Heart and Purpose,” by Peraim Kaur Khalsa, who has closely served the Siri Singh Sahib for many years. She shared her experiences in this time of transition with our teacher, and said, “There is no difference between people who are with him and people out in the field. His psyche is right there all the time…He wants us to tune into our more refined sensibilities and use them.” She brought the Siri Singh Sahib’s message to the Council which was, “They have to expand; the Aquarian Age is coming very fast and they shouldn’t miss the boat.” After leading a guided visualization & healing meditation, Peraim Kaur requested the Council to form small discussion groups to consider the following questions: 1) What are our universal values? What is unique about our values? 2) What is acceptance vs. holding a standard? 3) What would you say about the Siri Singh Sahib to a 10 year-old child who has never met him? 4) If a young person, considering his or her own life commitment and direction, asks you what keeps you on the path of Sikh Dharma, what would you say?

Unity of Purpose
Khalsa Council participated in a process and discussion “Trans-Region Transference Topics” (meaning all over the world without boundaries), during which members committed to championing and serving in seven core areas, including Curricula of the Siri Singh Sahib’s Teachings; Funding Educational Programs; Connectedness and Rejuvenation of Spirit Within Our Communities; Leadership Structures Defining Our Communities; Generational Issues; Developing Khalsa Council’s Executive Mind. Topic Champions presented moving addresses about what inspired them to leadership roles. The Bhai Sahiba addressed the Council to introduce her office members and to encourage everyone to keep the teachings pure and to teach about all the Gurus and the Siri Guru Granth Sahib, so that interested students and communities will learn about the teachings of Sikh Dharma and know who Sikhs are. She announced that the Siri Singh Sahib’s health keeps improving, and said, “Don’t be sad, he is doing fine…Keep praying, your prayers are working!” To be an Observer at the April 2004 Khalsa Council session, contact Panch Nishan Kaur,
