The Spirit of Anandpur
"We are going to Anandpur Sahib and walking on that land to touch the spirit and soul of those that were there 300 years before us. We are going to merge our psyche to exalt ourselves to bring purity and piety to our beings. We are going to be there to commemorate our glory and our grace. We are going there on a humble pilgrimage so that we can concentrate fully on our achievement in the spiritual world, our clarity in the mental world and our endurance in the physical world."

In 1699, at Anandpur Sahib, Guru Gobind Singh called out for the truly pure to prove themselves. The call was answered by the Panj Piare (five beloved ones), and is a call that rings in our consciousness still today. It is now exactly three hundred years later and we are again being asked to step forward onto that sacred land and be part of the holy family that we call Khalsa. Bhaisakhi 1999 is our chance to not only witness a piece of history, but to create a history that future generations will feel for centuries to come, while carrying on the banner of Khalsa.
This is why a Yatra is planned for Bhaisakhi 1999. A Yatra is a physical and spiritual journey, which gives you the opportunity to let go of your normal reality and put yourself in the care of your divine nature. A Yatra is marked by visiting places and people, which inspire you towards that Divine. A Yatra is an exploration of your higher self.
Plans are currently being made for many cultural activities which include kirtan darbars, a jaloose (parade), art exhibitions celebrating the cultural heritage of the Khalsa, martial arts and music competitions. All of these activities would be in celebration of three hundred years of the Khalsa.
The Yatra will arrive in New Delhi on April 7th and from there they will go to Chandigarh until the 12th when we travel to Anandpur Sahib. On the 15th we will travel back to New Delhi and on the 16th we depart. The full cost of the Yatra from the USA is $2300.00. For people traveling from the United States on their own the price is $1300.00. For those originating in Europe the cost is $1200.00.
