As Nanak Walked...
Excerpts, June 21, 2001
It is all about transforming people from their integrity to dignity. It’s just like the Bandhs, where you apply locks and rise and rise and rise and rise; from one ocean you cross to the other, changing the height of the water; we change the consciousness. It looks a very small thing, but tomorrow you’ll be needed. You don’t have to search for an audience; you shall have people wherever you are. We have to act collectively, as we are being prepared for the Age of Aquarius. It’s not a question of who you are; it is how enduring and progressive you are.

Try to understand how lucky you are. We are going through the change of Age, and we are participating in it. It is not that huge disasters should happen, and then, and only then people will see the Age is changing. If you look at the evening news, you’ll find that disaster is happening everywhere. But you are changing. You are changing to challenge the ultimate challenge: to help humanity.

The whole life of Nanak was to help others. He walked, he talked, he visited places. He undertook impossible journeys. He started young, and from the very first day his job was to help others. And symbolically, when you help others, Nanak comes to you. Don’t call on him, he shall be there. That is a personified prophecy, that, “If you walk one step towards me, I shall walk 1000 steps towards you.” Understand Nanak once and for all. Forget who you are and help others. Nanak shall take care of everything in your life, in your family’s life, in your surroundings, everything. The one thing you have to do is to forget yourself. That is the spirit of Nanak, as Nanak walked.

We are supposed to serve, help, elevate, share and truly understand the meaning of Vand Chakko. Share with others, and God will share with you. For 3,000 years, mankind has been taught they are sinners. What is the idea of creating an identity of fear and forcing people to love? That is nothing but the rape of the human psyche. What is the life that you are being promised - in the heavens you can have this, you have that? A promise of what?

If you see one word only, and understand the meaning of it, Ang Sang Wahe Guru, you won’t have to learn anything else. I tell you from my own experience, Nanak shall come through. And see? Guru Ram Das is nothing but a living miracle. How beautiful you will be in the memory of another person, if the very touch of your presence or a few words can miraculously take care of another person.

All you need is to forget who you are and help another person. Reach out: this is the life. Hail Guru Ram Das and heal the world. And remember, when you heal somebody’s problem, your problems will disappear from right under your own nose. My problem, your problem, our problems are only there when we are not taking care of others. It is the nature of the God blessing you. It’s just telling you the heavens are kind to you.

There is no more joy than helping others, helping everybody, helping anybody. We are on this planet to serve people. Wahe Guru Ji ka Khalsa. Wahe Guru Ji ki Fateh.
