The Last to Arrive and the First to Leave?
The Last to Arrive and the First to Leave?
Atma Kaur Khalsa
Das Vandh Director

May all bounty unfold for you in 1997. A grateful acknowledgement to all the consistent Dasvandh donors in 1996, especially new donors!

As we begin a new year of giving from our hearts, I’d like to share some thoughts and observations from the year in review.

The first of the month comes hard and fast for all of us; I wince a bit and write out my rent check. I group together my bills, sit down with the calculator and begin the process with my check book. When I’m done stamping, addressing etc., I inhale, exhale, and thank God I could do it yet another month. I have an added sense of calm because I know that my Dasvandh is already covered by electronic funds transfer at mid-month. (A great option which works for many of us.) This helps me resist temptation.

What temptation you might ask? The temptation to say "It’s a tight month, maybe I’ll pay Dasvandh next month."

Often when obligations are great, we make Dasvandh a last priority. It’s the first thing many people cut and the last check they might write, depending on the financial picture of that month.

At the start of this new year, I urge you all to make it your first check that you write, and to resist the temptation of cutting out Dasvandh when things are down and darkest. If you need to reduce your commitment slightly, do that instead, but stay linked. Imagine the prosperity consciousness in the Dharma and the world if everyone participated in some way!

May all you give in the highest of consciousness return to you a thousand fold in 1997. God Bless us all.
