A Leader Surrenders To Nothing But Their Own Mission
A Leader Surrenders To Nothing But Their Own Mission

Khalsa Council Excerpts - October 13, 1995

A leader is born, made by destiny, made by prayer, made by their own sweet will. The best leader is one who comes out with applied consciousness. It is the ego which limits the human. Wherever there will be ego, there shall not be God. Leadership shall fail with a person for himself, within himself, or herself within herself. Ego will bring you three things: insecurity, fear, and duality. You don't understand. Sometimes people say, "Surrender." You think it is a weakness, right? It is not a weakness, folks. It is impossible. Whenever you surrender your molecules as a metal; you become an alloy that cannot be separated. That is what surrender is all about.

A leader surrenders to nothing but his or her own mission. A spiritual leader surrenders to Dharma. When you surrender to Dharma you get an altitude. With altitude, you have an attitude. With attitude, you have a horizon wider than ever before. Then opportunity comes to you. Then your trouble starts. When you are at that height, if you lose your balance once, you'll never get a second chance. You are corrupt before your own leadership. That, nobody will ever tell you. Nobody can judge you. Law, people, corruption, ethics, morality and authority, even God, cannot judge you.

Unfortunately, when your spirit judges you, your soul judges you. You have no escape. Therefore, keeping your soul on your positive side is the right attitude in life.

Once, an ambassador of a country writes to their mother country that a person is dangerous, the government of that country, in spite of any friendship, cannot extend itself; because the ambassador's word is final. The ambassador represents a government in the world. The soul represents God in you.

The purpose of a soul is to test. Higher the test is for the soul, higher the soul is. You know when a soul is shallow, low grade, it will have all the earthly amenities. When the soul is of a high mature quality and reaching its end, it will have negative earthly amenities and comforts. Do you know that? This is something you have to understand. Challenges do not come to babies. Challenges are for mature, outstanding, real persons. Challenges are virtues because they guarantee your confidence, strength, and relationship with God within you, consciousness within you, intelligence within you. Your relationship is so radiant that people want to worship God, to find God. Then God worships you and wants to find you. That is the relationship. And that is what the Mool Mantra says: "Akaal Moorat ; you are the pictorial God." Period. All the time you have to remember, "Does my soul like it?" The moment you talk to your soul, you talk to Infinity.

The first faculty of great leadership, spiritual leadership or earthly leadership, is that you must be you within you. Second, you within you must have the faculty, facility, and facet to serve all, as you. You will talk to all as you talk to yourself. And third is whatever you speak; you shall hear the words first. Don't speak to speak to others. That's such a waste of human energy. It's such a depression on your soul. The soul cannot forgive you if you use the pure energy of the soul to convince other people, just to convince them.

Relax, relax, relax. Give God a chance. He got into this madness, to create you; and being perfect, He created you all imperfect. Let Him see it out and solve His problems; not you. Put Him in trouble. He loves it. Everybody wants attention. You want attention. God wants attention. Give Him attention. Let Him work for you. Do not start working as God, and do not let people know you are God.

I leave you with these thoughts. The future is yours, tomorrow is yours. I am your yesterday; very beautiful, very compassionate, very wonderful, and very much loved by my Guru and my God. And now it is you. It was always you. I was just a maya. It will always be you. I’ll be just a shadow. How wrong I can go, how right I can go, it will never stop the karma. It will never stop the Path. You all have zillion times more power in you to carry it to the heights, to the shores, to the world. Be proud. Kaam krodh lobh moh aungkaar: Lust, anger, greed, pride, and attachment -- all this stuff is beautiful. Attach yourself to your soul. Live it and tell the whole world you are not you, you are the Thou and Self. Then your loftiness will be recognized by all four corners of the world... It’s recognized now. Let it grow and let it glow. You are born with that destiny.

May Guru bless you and God guide you to achieve it every tomorrow; so that you can take away the sorrow of the whole world and excel. In your excellence lies the peace of the world.
