Summer Solstice Sadhana
Yogi Bhajan Speaks on “Sadhana”

The greatest reward of doing Sadhana is that the person becomes incapable of being defeated. Sadhana is a s self-victory, and it is a victory over time and space. Getting up is a victory over time, and doing it is a victory over space. That is what Sadhana is. And when you do a Sadhana in the sangat, you enrich yourself in multiple ways. First, the isolation which can hit anybody and make them go totally crazy is defeated. Secondly, when all of you meditate on God, the total effect of your Sadhana becomes multiplied by the number of people participating. Sadhana is not a matter of advantages and disadvantages. It is simply a means through which you can defeat all your miseries, misfortunes, and handicaps. It is a very personnal thing which does not relate to anybody except yourself.
You are supposed to go through self-evaluation every day. That is what Sadhana is. On one side is God, the superiority of you; on one side is you; and on one side is the devil or the inferiority of you. Between the three you have to assess yourself.
A sadhu is a being who has disciplined himself. Sadhana is the technique to discipline yourself.

Sadhana, Aradhana, and Prabhupati are the themes for Solstice for the next three years. This year began with Sadhana and it was a fantastic Summer Solstice. Here is a letter from a participant….

By Seva Singh

Solstice - Summer, Winter, different times of year, but both mean transformation. I have had various experiences of both in terms of my involvement, and activity level. Typically I am in the background, not directly involved, yet part of the whole, and perhaps more involved than I know.
The same holds true with you. I was speaking with one of you in a very informal, unplanned, spontaneous and perfect moment, when the realization of truth came through. Truth that I had felt, seen, sensed, experienced and was perhaps scared of facing yet again. Of all that matters, Yogi Bhajan said in a 2003 class here in New Mexico, "You can never hide from your truth. If you do, you will always be lost." Knowing this to be wisdom to live by, once again when that hint of recurring truth hit me in the face, I could not turn my back. I knew a moment of change was upon me, a moment of decision making, of change and all that mattered was before me.
Okay, well, this was rather unexpected, but what do you do? Face it, or run I suppose. I never was a good runner, unless competing. But running from something seemed contradictory to my nature. So, despite potential spite from those around me, those who mean most, both close and afar, I reached into that jar of truth that had opened itself to me, crossing my fingers that clarity would manifest through this effort. All I can say is, so far, so good. It feels right, and that is my daily barometer.
As our process of truth, growth and evolution continues as Human Beings, one thing is certain - it takes a lot of work and constant effort to "keep up." The imminent approach of the Aquarian Age is felt by us all, and the pace only seems to pick up on a daily, weekly, monthly, yearly basis, but there is peace, and it's found within. Our daily practice helps ensure peace, and each Solstice experience is a time for magnificence, whether we feel ready for it, or not. No two Solstice experiences are ever the same, even our level of involvement may change. However, by simply showing up, or
having the consciousness of change and awareness will help carry
us through.
Here I want to thank you. Thank you for being there on the front lines of Solstice, in the background, or somewhere in between. Whether you know it, or not, you are part of the solstice magnificence, and by simply being there, this magnificence is part of you. Until next Solstice, my friends, I bid you greatness, and being open to "your truth."
Sat Nam from your humble Solstice participant, Seva Singh
