Hardish Singh Atwal age 23 was killed in a road accident returning from a short holiday with friends after the end of year examinations at the University.

Hardish Singh Atwal was a mystery to many of us in the 3HO community for quite some time. He lived in northern England, and we in London only knew of him when we began to receive copies of Prosperity Paths and The Science of Keeping Up from something called the 3HO Resource Center in northern England. Finally he came to London when the Siri Singh Sahib was visiting and he joined the first year teacher training course. Hardish Singh was studying at the University to become a pharmacist and found it difficult to come to London, but he traveled over night on the bus and joined us for our group sadhana. It meant so much to him, so much that he was prepared to travel all night to be with us for two days and then travel all night to get back to the University, and he never uttered a word of complaint.

Hardish had a maturity far beyond his 23 years. On the one hand he was great company and so wonderful to be with. We had many long and interesting debates about Yoga, Sikh Dharma, 3HO, etc. On the other hand he was a very quiet, humble man. He never felt the need to make himself heard or to impress. He was self contained and extremely strong. He knew his path and his purpose. He had decided the date he would take Amrit and knew exactly where he was going. Finding himself cut off from activities in London he started the 3HO Resource Center up in Sunderland, received copies of the newsletters directly from the Development Office in New Mexico, xeroxed them and distributed them to a mailing list covering the whole of the United Kingdom. How did he do it? When he knew what he wanted, he went right out and organized it, never waiting for someone else to do the job for him.

Hardish was an example of strength and humility to us all. We are all deeply saddened by his sudden death, but we are grateful for his generosity and dedication, and will continue to work for his vision of 3HO here in the UK.

Hardish Singh has been a great supporter of building the mission of Sikh Dharma, the power of the 3HO lifestyle and community outreach. He shared his beliefs in Prosperity Paths number 13 page 3; plus he called the Development Office regularly giving feedback and suggestions. We will all miss him. Hari Har Kaur from London has requested to continue Hardish Singh’s mission of distributing the newsletters throughout the United Kingdom.
