Making Your Lifemark
Have you ever noticed that the people you admire, like Einstein, Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Beethoven, Picasso, Martin Luther King Jr., and the Siri Singh Sahib (Yogi Bhajan), have not only left their mark on the world, but in your heart, as well? All of them and many others have touched us, have encouraged us to reach for our personal greatness, our own personal life mark. Each one inspires us to emulate the qualities they possessed which allowed them to leave so great a mark on the human race and the world at large - in essence, to find and live our own legacy.

Each of us has a destiny, a unique contribution or gift to give this world. Our life purpose here is to fulfill this destiny, to make our mark by contributing our special gift to the world. Skills and talents do not necessarily constitute our life purpose. The reality is that if we are busy improving our skills and talents, developing plans, and setting goals to improve our performance or achievement, we are likely to miss the mark.

Generally, we approach life from what we think we want. Frequently this is not based on an understanding of our life purpose, our destiny. This can lead us to pursue paths that may provide "success" and a comfortable livelihood, but actually have little to do with our soul's purpose or our deepest passions. Despite this success, we can end up out of synch, confused, frustrated and angry. Without that Big Picture quality in our lives, we get caught up in doing. Work on ourselves helps us discover what our unique contribution is and how we can live our destiny.

This is our spiritual work, for in order to find and deliver our contribution, we need to come home and embrace our authentic self, our unmistakable identity. When our intentions are actively aligned with our soul's purpose, we are congruent. The power of our life force becomes nearly unstoppable.

Those who leave their life mark have focused towards their contribution, and their contribution became their guiding light. When they give their unique gift or special talent to others, to be of service, their creative expressions match the needs of their fellow humans, they experience their own spirit.

Your life mark must be so defined that a legacy will be created. Think about it -because we all have a Lifemark to contribute and the world wants to experience yours.
