Kundalini Yoga Teachers: IKYTA News
Kundalini Yoga Teachers: IKYTA News
Nam Kaur Khalsa, Executive Director

UPDATE: The first half of 1998 has already been a time of great expansion for IKYTA in terms of membership, teacher training and getting the word out about Kundalini Yoga. People have been seeking us out to include our contact information on their products and in their books, and as a result we are referring people on a daily basis to Kundalini Yoga teachers worldwide. Three popular yoga magazines have called us to include IKYTA and Kundalini Yoga in their yoga articles and teacher listings.

We are still working on the goals our membership voted on in 1994 as the top priorities for IKYTA: 1.) Standardize and expand KRI Teacher Training worldwide; and 2.) Create a Database Library of the Teachings of Yogi Bhajan. We're proud of our progress so far.

In 1998 sixteen International KRI Teacher Training teams taught the KRI Certification program in Canada, the U.S., Europe, Mexico, and South America; we are offering Master's Touch Teacher Training again this summer, and we've reopened Grandfathering in 1998. We now have over 1,000 KRI Certified teachers worldwide - over 300 of those joined the ranks this year.

By the year 2000, only certified teachers will be listed in the Kundalini Yoga Teachers Directory Booklet and on the Internet Directory. If you haven't applied for Grandfathering and you are eligible, i.e. you have over 700 hours experience teaching public Kundalini Yoga classes, DO IT NOW! Applications must be received by December 30, 1998.

Remember, only Grandfathered teachers are eligible to apply to become part of a KRI International Teacher Training Certification team.

In January, 1997, Satsimran Kaur organized the Database Transcribing Project in Bangalore, and to date over 550 lectures have been transcribed! This has been funded solely by Gurudakshina contributions from Kundalini Yoga teachers. To step up this project, we encourage you to keep teaching, keep up, and keep giving!
