The Power & Energy at Summer Solstice
Notes to the Editor about the Power and Energy at Summer Solstice

The inspiration to attend solstice came from SS Soul Singh. He had been teaching us yoga; he talked a lot about solstice, and finally I decided to go.

It was a very unique experience. I saw how dedicated everybody was, how they went through their morning sadhana and yoga all day with a cleansing diet. There was a great spirit of community and Sadh Sangat. Everybody was assigned duties and they did them well. The camp was well organized and well facilitated. It was a totally new experience for me, and I enjoyed it. It was good to be away from all the pleasures, and very relaxing, and next year, I’ll be back!

We arrived in the middle of camp so we were only able to do one day of White Tantric Yoga. It is definitely an experience! It is tough to look in each others eyes and go through that for such a long time. It’s the first time I did Tantric Yoga. I’d been doing Kundalini Yoga with Soul Singh, and I found the concentration more difficult, but I think by the end of the day we did get the hang of it a little.

There was a Rensubhai Kirtan and I was amazed to see how many people took part in it. When I came back I was more relaxed and refreshed, and some change has come over me.

There was so much energy there, it was amazing. We talked to so many people of different backgrounds. My husband and I were really enjoying it, but it was hard for the kids.

We participated in the White Tantric Yoga the last day. It was inspiring - a little painful. My husband and I didn’t talk much, but we developed so much understanding of each other. It was hard at first to look at each other for such a long time - 62 minutes. But we felt like one big family with the partners next to us. It was a very happy feeling although it was very hard. We were talking and sharing experiences during breaks.

The Tantric made me realize how we don’t look at each other so much in our life, and I realize how important it is to look at each other; otherwise, it creates so much misunderstanding.

It was a hard camp, we were frustrated, and kids were sick, but we were just so calm. Something happened to us. It was that special feeling in the relationship.

At first we were panicky, you have to take cold showers. The first day when my husband was cleaning dishes, it was so dusty, it would blow on the dishes and we would wash them again. But by the third day, who cares if something would drop in your food. And I really enjoyed the cold showers. The blind walk was part of the Tantric Yoga. After an hour you didn’t know what you were doing. There was such an energy pulling through that line. The lady next to my husband was swinging his arm so hard. He usually doesn’t like things like that, but pretty soon he was swinging his arm and doing it to me! It looks like you’re dancing, and it’s just a feeling of happiness.

From there I went to ladies camp and it was so cozy. Next year my husband wants to go to Solstice for the entire ten days!
