The Yoga Centre of Vancouver, B.C., now provides 25 classes serving 150-200 students each week. Through our Board of Directors, Teachers’ Committee, and Teacher Meetings, we work hard to build a strong, stable, and uplifting Centre for our students.
Most of our teachers are not Sikhs, nor do they live in ashrams. The initial focus of our Teacher Training Programs was to present the teachings of Yogi Bhajan and also give the students an experience of the Dharma, as a disciplined lifestyle. This is done through meditations, homework, sadhana, cold showers, yogic food, seva, and more.
"Where there’s Dharma, there’s no karma." Yogi Bhajan has emphasized that although Kundalini Yoga gives the awareness, it is the lifestyle which integrates and supports this effect. Kundalini Yoga is a householder’s yoga. It is an integrated lifestyle that balances the temporal and spiritual worlds. It builds strong bodies and character of spirit. We are now challenged to create the structures to support this consciousness. Some ways we can do this are through Teacher’s Courses; developing local and international Teachers’ Associations; by example--how we live our lives; and by enhancing our current yoga class programs to allow students to learn and experience more of the Dharma.
One source our students enjoy and find informative is Prosperity Paths. We carry copies of current and back issues at our Centre to encourage students (and teachers) to learn about our 3HO and Sikh Dharma family and how to help build our future together. Some are interested in increasing their prosperity through tithing. Some are practicing the meditations. One student has already received two raises! Some are excited about the international face of 3HO, as many travel to Europe and Asia. Some receive inspiration from the Siri Singh Sahib’s lectures. Some are just curious about 3HO and Sikh Dharma.
We would like to sincerely thank all the staff of Prosperity Paths for their committed effort to build and improve our communication with each other--through the technology of the teachings and the inspiration of our 3HO family itself.
